# 32 World War 4
World War Four was declared on the 9th September 2001 and we are fast approaching the fourth anniversary.
In fact by the time you read this, that anniversary will already have been and gone.
This particular World War was officially declared by the Western World at 9.41 pm on the 20th of September 2001.
So the simple statements of fact above do raise a number of questions which I am going to try and answer.
How much notice has the average person in New Zealand taken of World War 4 and what have we learnt in the last 4 years?
Not Much.
What caused this war?
Oil, Oil, Oil.
What will the next four years hold for us?
A quickening of pace as it runs out.
How will it end?
It won’t.
Why is it that so many people in New Zealand seem to be oblivious to the fact that this war is real, people are dying and its happening right now and has potentially, extremely dire consequences for the entire planet?
Because their heads are stuck in the sand!
Do most New Zealander’s like living with their heads stuck in the sand?
They must do!
What can history teach us in preparation for the future?
If we keep our heads stuck in the sand, Bugger all.
Are we half full or half empty?
Were on E
Are we ready for what the future holds?
No
What will my grand children’s world look like?
Much, like the past.
What can I do to change it?
Don’t know yet, but give me a day or two to ponder that one.
New Zealanders are extremely good inventers, and World leaders in doing things differently: Can we as a Nation, solve this World Wide problem?
Not sure.
How can we find out?
Challenge them, find out.
Can we find some kind sponsors for this challenge to give it some gas?
Already found three, are there more hiding out there?
If so contact the writer.

Over the next few months I’m going to discus these 14 questions in greater depth and I flat out challenge every one of you that reads these words, to offer your own opinion.
You can do this either through letters to the NZ Trucking Mag, Editor Page or directly with me as I try and nut out some of the answers to these questions.
I’m absolutely sure that NZ Trucking Mag will forward your emails and letters to me.

I have always believed that Kiwi Truckers were great problem solvers and that every one of us has got an opinion on everything.
So with that in mind and in conjunction with my sponsors, and the team at Drivertek International Ltd I would like to formally announce the inception of the
Drivertek International, Trucker of the Year Competition.
Format
Initially it will be through your correspondence, but if the winner of each years event becomes difficult to judge due to the quality of your entries, then I will have to think of something else.
(See rule two, and the entry conditions)
Purpose
To solve the problems of the world through common sense.
Competition topics.
Hardest first: how to resolve the looming oil crisis.
But (See rule two)
Rules: only Two
1. The competition will run from September to September each year,
2. I’m the judge and the judge’s decisions will be final.
Prizes
There will be prizes, but these still need to be discussed with the sponsors.
They will be announced at a later stage (when I’ve got some, and could be just a lollypop, yet)
Entry Conditions
Open to anyone, however if I decide to throw in a B-Train driving test to sort out the winner.
So be it. (See rule two)
Am I confident we can pull this off?
Absolutely
Do I believe whole heartedly that that you will express your opinions, which I know each and everyone of you have?
Maybe! Prove me right or wrong.
But then, that is “just an old trucker’s point of view”
